16th Council of Ministers Meeting: Regional Rusumo Falls Hydroelectric Project

The 16th Council of Ministers (CoM) meeting was held to discuss the progress and the upcoming inauguration of the 80 MW Regional Rusumo Falls Hydroelectric Plant (RRFHP). The meeting brought together Ministers in charge of Energy in Burundi, Rwanda, and Tanzania, RPCL Board Members and Managing Directors of the three Utilities REGIDESO, REG-EUCL and TANESCO.
Objectives of the Meeting:
1. Follow up on the progress of the project: After a meeting and site visit the Ministers reviewed the current status of the project ensuring that all milestones are being met and addressing any challenges encountered.
2. Prepare for the upcoming inauguration: It will take place in the first quarter of 2025, plans were discussed to ensure a successful inauguration, highlighting the significance of this project for regional cooperation and sustainable energy.
